FLAME CUTTING MACHINE

Mechanization of cutting improves the speed and repeatability of each contour. A rigidly welded machine bed supports turning rolls that rotate pipe as the cutting torch travels over the pipe. The pipe’s weight is evenly distributed over the entire length of the machine bed. Cutting can be performed anywhere on the machine. The pipe is self-centering in the turning rolls. Only the torch needs to be raised and lowered to accommodate different diameters. With excellent operator visibility, a cutting carriage travels on precision machined and hardened ways under a solid rack and pinion gear drive. All cutting operations are controlled by one person from the operator’s console.

ABRASIVE SAW

The Vernon abrasive saw relies on a simple combination of powered turning rolls and high speed abrasive wheels to perform straight cuts and weld preparation bevels. Integrated pipe conveyors permit one person to load and unload pipe from either direction without overhead lifts or extra people. Improved safety and lower cycle times result from centralized cutting and automated material flow.
A simple 5-step procedure ensures high production and minimal training. Pipe is positioned under the cutoff blade or beveling wheel. Variable-height turning rolls raise the pipe above the conveyor pass-line. Front and rear pipe stops are secured to prevent pipe creep. Pneumatic hold-down rollers descend to the pipe surface and the abrasive wheel is hydraulically lowered through the pipe wall.

MASTERTUBE PLASMA PROFILER

With simple, rugged construction, the MasterTube machine employs a 4-axis computer control with tachless drives. PLC solid-state relays and the LED readouts simplify maintenance.

A single 4-axis motion control card drives two axes of motion to advance, retract, and rotate raw tubing. Two more axes simultaneously vary torch angle and horizontal travel across flat surfaces. Computer controls and out-of-round compensation perform even the most difficult corner cuts.
